How to respond to the following DQ. Please do not repeat what is listed below and answer in 2 paragraphs.

Virtual settings in the workplace are a very common norm for organizations now a day. It amazes me at how common it is for individuals to have access to work from home, as growing up it was unheard of! Some. effective strategies to help motivate dispersed teams in a virtual setting include using authentic leadership to take the time to get to know all members of your team. Although I believe this is a strategy that should be implemented in all settings, promoting authentic leadership as a strategy to get to know the team members on more than a surface level basis allows to see their strengths and weaknesses from a more personal level. I think this is beneficial because as a leader it is very important to be aware of the different ways your team members work individually and how to motivate them as well as motivators can vary. It also allows for team members to feel more appreciated and open to communicate with their leader. As stated in an article about motivating virtual teams, "Feeling unappreciated, combined with a lack of interpersonal interaction, might lead to lower feelings of loyalty to the team, the leader, and the organization in general, and maybe greater turnover as well" (Smither, 2020). Another strategy that can be implemented to motivate dispersed team members are clear goals and expectations for the team and individually as well. Having clear goals not only for the team but set expectations for the individuals as well allows for all members to feel motivated to complete them, when there are goals just set for the team as a whole and can let some individuals slack off because the goals are not specified enough.

One trend specifically I see that is impacting my specific field is time zone. As mentioned above in a strategy I suggest is getting to know all team members- which is staying up to dat eon where others are located to ensure meetings are being scheduled correctly for everyone so that no information is being missed for team members. Another trend that is a challenge is knowing the tone of voice through messaging and emailing based on the individual. Although this does not seem like a major challenge, in my field it is! My whole job and most departments work from home, so we are never in person with one another and in meetings with all departments it tends to just be a handful of people that usually speak so it is hard to know the personalities of others in different departments that are not on your team. This can be a challenge because it can cause miscommunication because text and email can be misconstrued.
