Generally within the realm of management for security personnel there are assigned and distinguished individual which may form a board or something similar to it, one aim of their formation is to tackle work place violence. Several tools are generally used in these situation, including but not limited to, experience, intelligence and the overall goals of the established work force. For instance, as a senior security personnel you not only have obtained the knowledge and experience necessary to conduct your assigned roles and responsibilities but within your time you have most likely developed best practices and experienced instances of work place violence, utilizing experience can serve a critical role in introducing specific procedural steps that help reduce risk associated with workplace violence. Aligning workplace goals may also mitigate the risk of workplace violence, a set of standard workplace goals not only help to develop leveled understanding but also aide in creating a climate populated by like minded individuals. All security personnel hold responsibility in incident management, including workplace violence. Ways in which individuals may become involved include the organization and establishment of the protocol and procedure for specific incident, establishing response protocol, and possibly the creation of programs or organizing training aimed at deterring, preventing and intervening in unwanted behaviors or incidents.

Notable functions of corporate security include but are not limited to, crisis management, physical security and crime detections. Crisis management can be defined as the process in which corporate security personnel identify all applicable crisis in which an organization may fall victim to, as well as setting the protocol, procedures and standards for response to the given crisis. Necessary for this function to properly operate the crisis management team must collaborate and communicate with all areas within the totality of the the organization, not only to ensure overall readiness but to build upon the analysis of applicable risk or crisis, input of all personnel or designated areas is needed. Physical security consist of the overall physical infrastructure that house organization resources and assets, including personnel, information, networking, and any other pieces requiring protection. The first step in creating physical security guidelines is to analyze the criticality and vulnerability of all organization assets, once this step has been completed it is necessary to design a systematic approach aimed at their protection and creating protocol that ensure prolonged safety. Crime detection is the functions that serves as an active monitor, emplacing specific tools and resources that will detect the development of criminal acts, hopefully stopping them prior to them being carried out. Crime detection will not catch all threats of criminal presence but if done correctly will enable a swift response that will eliminate a catastrophic event.

Raytheon is an industry which controls a large number of military and governmental contracts for the development and distribution of defense material, most well-known for their creation of missile, sonar, and radar systems. When implementing the corporate security functions above the industry may have individuals assigned to controlling or monitoring these functions at its headquarter but must also have assigned personnel trained and assigned to do these functions at all locations throughout the United States. Controlling crisis management means that based upon location personnel take into account the weather hazards which may effect operations. Specific location may also make the industry susceptible to issues or incidents which involve local gangs or domestic terrorism groups, crisis management means that the actors will be taken into account, along with their incident history, likeliness of incident, and criminal resources. Physical security will account for the specific geographic location, building or facility layout, controlled access, security resource placement, and public access. Crime detection will serve as an internal effort, not monitoring for outside incidents or incidents involving outside factors, but instead an internal group assigned to detect and possible prevent crime incidents within the workplace.
