how to respond to this discussion The due process rights that juveniles have consist of having the right to counsel, to confront and examine accusers, and to have adequate notice of charges when confinement is a possible punishment. Granting a juvenile the right to counsel means the individual has the right to have a lawyer assist on his behalf. I believe this is good because the juvenile will not fully understand the process that he is now entering. It would be a bonus if the lawyer cared about the juvenile and did not see it as just another case. That way the lawyer would do everything in his power to ensure the juvenile has the best deal for the defendant's case. Confronting and examining accusers allows the defendant to dismiss witnesses that potentially may have ill intent for the demise of his future. This allows for the weeding out of false witnesses and allows the defendant to have a better opportunity of either having a lesser sentence or being found innocent. Giving juveniles adequate notice of their charges gives the lawyer a chance to provide the necessary evidence if something does not make sense. It also gives the juvenile time to prepare for the process of a potential trial and to possibly prepare them for an emotional rollercoaster. Anyone representing a juvenile must remember that they are children who have committed crimes. They may not fully understand the severity of their actions, so I believe the lawyer must provide as much help to them as possible. T
