The following member functions I have observed in my groupare, bringingreal issues to the group that they are willing to discuss, offering feedback and being open to feedback despite the anxiety, being willing to practice new skills and behaviours in daily life and reporting back to the group (not just insight), both challenge and support others; engage in self-confrontation, and assess the level of satisfaction with the experience and take active steps to change involvement in sessions. The following leader functions I have observed in my group are, modelling appropriate behaviours such as caring, confrontation, being open about reactions, providing a balance between support and confrontation, exploring common themes that provide for some universality and continuing 'linking' between members surrounding core themes/issues and encouraging members within the group to try new skills
