How would I reply to the post?

$20,000 is a large amount of money to be gifted so I personally would want to make sure my investment principal was protected while still giving it a chance to earn a reasonable rate of return in hopes to use it for a large purchase later, such as a downpayment on a house or car. Because I have plans for this money and would want it to earn interest, I would put this money into a CD from a reputable bank. With a CD, I will know how much interest I will be earning per month/year and will be able to continue to save the accrued interest from my initial $20,000 investment. According to Investopedia, Saving in a CD could potentially yield a higher interest rate and APY compared to a savings account (Lake, 2023). I would invest the entire $20,000 into CDs, but a useful strategy may be to stagger the time commitments into different CDs so there is always money coming due and I will have rotating liquidity to take advantage of other investments if interest rates drop. This way, I would have access to the money (if needed) on shorter CDs, without being penalized.

Personally, I would steer clear of investing in cryptocurrency due to the risk involved. According to Forbes, there are a lot of variables involved with investing in crypto. Cryptocurrency is an incredibly topsy-turvy investment; all cryptocurrencies experience huge fluctuations in their valuationa quality known on Wall Street as volatility. Cryptocurrency is an incredibly volatile investment (Lapin, 2022). As stated in the Forbes article, there is huge fluctuations, so Im sure when its high, there are incredible returns on the investment. On the flip side of that, any investment may fluctuate within a day due to the current market. Not to mention, cryptocurrency is not backed by anything. While I understand that there are still risks to other investments, cryptocurrency seems to have very high levels of risk and I would prefer a more protected option.
