How would you comment to this in 150 words: This week's topic of discussion is about internet browsers, the use of them and the popularity of different browsers. Personally, I have always been a user of Microsoft's Internet Explorer. I guess I really do not have a great reason for this; until I switched my major and began looking into coding/computer/internet topics, I did not pay it much thought. I have always had Firefox downloaded on my laptops, and used it when Internet Explorer would not load a page correctly. Until this course, I had never really thought about or understood why some functions would one work on a certain browser or browsers. For example, I do most of my schoolwork on government computers at work, so I've been pretty restricted to IE. The computers here do have Chrome, and it is what I have to use in order to submit to the CSS validation page. I do not have too many issues with IE, other than the CSS validation site, however. I thought probably the most popular browser is Internet Exploxer or Safari. These browsers come installed as part of the OS/computer initially, and unless someone already has a preference for a specific browser, they will most likely just use the pre-installed browser. Doing a little research, I found out in fact Chrome is the most popular web browser today, followed by Safari with IE arriving in third.(Keizer, 2018) Chromes surge in popularity is due to the marketing and integration Google has done with its browser product. Google, as the most famous search engine, is used by millions to find out information; promoting Chrome right on the homepage certainly helped. Integrating it with Google's wide range of product also pushed it to the top, with its browser being used with Google's wide range of products. It's built in use of Java and its promoted higher speeds than IE and other browsers also makes it extremely appealing to users. (Rossignol, 2014) Increasing the speeds and security of browsers and integrating it with popular websites would be something I would be interested in. Adding some type of search bar to the side of the client, rather than opening a new tab, would be a useful tool. As long as it would keep the client lightweight, and at the risk of looking like a 2000s era "toolbar" page, a web browser incorpating different apps and functions built into it would be very handy and useful, being able to customize it to each individual user's wants or needs.
