The first type of data used in healthcare I have chosen to discuss is temperature. Temperature is classified as Quantitative Data. This week's lesson (Chamberlain University, 2021) defined Quantitative Data as numerical measurements or counts. Temperature is somethings that can be measured objectively and given a numerical value. Temperature is classified as an interval variable. An interval scale is Quantitative data only, can be ordered, the difference between numerical values means something and lasty lacks a true zero (Chamberlain University, 2021). In interval measurements, 0 degrees Fahrenheit and 0 degrees Celsius does not indicate and absence of temperature, rather it is used as a reference point on the scale (Lee & Rafferty, 2014).I would use a Cluster Sample approach, dividing the population of the hospital by the units within and obtaining a temperature from each patient on that specific unit.
The second type of data used in healthcare that I have chosen to discuss is ethnicity and race.Ethnicity and Race are classified as Qualitative Data. According to this week's lesson (Chamberlain University, 2021), Qualitative data consists of labels, attributes and things that cannot be expressed as a number. Ethnicity and Race is data measured on a nominal scale, it cannot be ranked, and no math calculations can be made. Nominal Scale is the lowest and weakest of the four variable measurement scales (Chamberlain University, 2021). The type of sampling technique I would use to gather this type of data would be stratified random sampling. This allows for each subgroup (strata) to be represented equally and provides the best representation of the entire population.
Have abeautiful week everyone!
