How would you reply? Under the time of slavery, African Americans were treated poorly and used as slaves. This lead to housing segregation, causing unequal living standards and poverty to rise. America had a lot of unequal and separate neighborhoods and communities that are resulted from racial exclusion, these communities started out denying black people access to higher end communities and resources. Thus leaving them with inadequate resources and high levels of crime. At this time there was a large wealth gap between whites and African Americans, white households had more opportunities to accumulate wealth than those of color. The Black Lives Matter movement particularly started with the murdering of Trayvon Martin, this sparked racial protests and led to debates about racial profiling and self defense laws. The BLM movement also sparked when George Floyd was killed by police officers after taking him into custody. This movement is dedicated to fighting racism and anti-black violence. A very strong community has come together to speak their truth about what is going on in our world today. Truly at the end of the day, the real problem is the people, those who choose to have an opinion on someone because they are socially or economically or even physically different from themselves. It is important to treat all people fairly regardless of your opinion on them, how they dress, where they live, their job, their interests etc. It is important for us all to come together and love everyone, and show justice and peace to those who deserve it
