Officers were encouraged to engage with the community through foot patrols, neighborhood meetings, and outreach programs. Additionally, the department prioritized hiring officers who were from the local area or had a strong connection to the community. This notably decreased the crime rate and improved the relationship with the community.

Law enforcement agencies recognized the growing prevalence of mental health issues within their communities. Officers were not trained or equipped to handle individuals experiencing mental health crises. To improve interactions between police officers and individuals experiencing mental health crises. Officers received specialized training in de-escalation techniques, mental health awareness, and crisis intervention strategies. The success of community policing initiatives in Camden, New Jersey, has durable aspects but the sustainability of this success depends on the long-term commitment of the law enforcement agency, local government, and community support. I do not think the problem will arise if there is ongoing engagement with the community.

The durability of success in CIT programs hinges on fostering a supportive organizational culture within law enforcement agencies. Agencies must prioritize and continue training for officers to identify and help individuals who are having mental health crises. With continued training, I do not feel that when officers encounter someone with a mental health issue things will escalate out of control if officers are trained and use the training when the situation arises.
