HRM4200 Project Team and Stakeholder Management Group Project Week 02 GROUP PROJECT: TEAM AND STAKEHOLDER PLANS AND CHALLENGES Project Objective: To apply team, stakeholder, and communication planning and management concepts and techniques to an actual project. Project Overview: Students will work in groups of 5-6 to develop a stakeholder analysis, stakeholder register, stakeholder engagement plan, project team organizational structure with roles and responsibilities, human resource management plan, and a communications plan. This report is worth 20% of the final course grade. Group project report instructions are as follows: 1. Select a project to analyze. Choices include: a. An applied project being worked on by one of your team members b. Find an industry project that provides sufficient information to analyze, including public- facing website information and/or media analysis. For example: Ottawa's Light Rail Transit (LRT) project. c. Find a project failure in the catalogue of catastrophe (https://calleam.com/WTPF/?page_id=3) that failed due to issues with the project team, stakeholders, and/or communication 2. Describe the project environment. 3. Identify key stakeholders on the applied project and conduct a stakeholder analysis using the stakeholder analysis model of your choice. 4. Build a stakeholder register complete with the following information: a. Stakeholder name b. Position in the organization c. Department d. Role in the project e. Key expectations f. Potential level of influence (high, medium or low) g. Influence type (supporter, resister or neutral) h. Classification (internal or external) i. Notes (provide any comments or concerns you have regarding the stakeholder) HRM4200 - Group Project 2 5. Create an organizational chart of the project team. Determine if the organizational structure is functional, matrix or projectized and explain. 6. Describe each project team member's role and responsibilities, and key skills. 7. Create a RACI matrix for all project activities. 8. Perform a stakeholder engagement analysis and identify stakeholder engagement strategy for each stakeholder. 9. Create a detailed communication plan. 10. Identify seven (7) key team, communication or stakeholder challenges that either did occur, could occur or could have occurred on this project, with any of the stakeholders (including the project team), the environment, the organization structure, the method of staffing the project or other. 11. For each of the key challenges you identify, describe strategies and plans that would prevent or correct the situation. Be specific. Describe tools and techniques you would apply and what the desired outcome would be.
