Part 1 - Series Circuit Construct a simple series circuit using the same elements given in step 4 above. Remember in a series circuit, there is only one path for electricity to flow. Keep the battery source the same. Your series circuit will have three light bulbs. Start at 1 light bulb and work your way up to 3. How was the relative brightness of the single light bulb? (Use words like bright, brightest, least bright, etc.). The single light bulb is the brightest. Brightness with 2 light bulbs? The brightness is reduced with 2 light bulbs. Brightness with 3 light bulbs? The brightness is least with 3 light bulbs. What can you conclude about what happens to the brightness of the bulbs as you add more bulbs in series? Why do you think this is the case? I can conclude that the brightness of the bulbs decreases as I add more bulbs in series. I believe this is because in a series circuit there is only one path in which current flows through. Make sure the values button is checked. Calculate the total current of the series circuit with 3 light bulbs. Remember that in a series circuit, the total resistance is the sum of the individual resistances of the light bulbs. Battery voltage: Total resistance of all light Current = bulbs
