What was the contract law agreement in Canada due to the Covid-19 pandemic? For example: I signed a contract with a Resort for my wedding which was taking place in May of 2020, and the contract involved a $7000 non-refundable deposit, approximately 10% of the total bill. In March of 2020 the pandemic erupts and the world changed, making any wedding reception impossible. I requested a refund, but the resort says that their deposit was non-refundable and will not be returned.

What should I do in this situation?
