Human Relationships

Introduction:

Staff working conditions and well being are key factors in the quality of an early childhood program provided for children and family. This activity requires you to reflect more deeply on that role with regard to working conditions at a center.

For this assignment, required APA format will consist of the title page with a running head, and reference page with citations in proper format. The minimum citations would include any articles or other reference materials used to complete this activity.

Information:

Research (as well as common sense) suggests there is a relationship between employees' stress, physical health and sense of well-being. Directors must work to establish and provide a workplace environment that promotes positive human relationships in a supportive organizational culture to relieve stress and inculcate a sense of well-being for staff members. Children and adults cannot thrive in a stressful environment.

What to Do:

Think about readings, discussions, activities and assignments as well as your own personal experience working in an early childhood center, considering the role of human relationships. Then respond to the following questions, being sure to consider all groups at a center in your response.

  • How can the fiscal or financial condition of a center affect human relationships - what effect might it have on the children, parents and staff members?
  • How might the political atmosphere within a center as well as without (in the community, state and nation) affect human relationships - what effect might it have on the children, parents and staff members?
  • How could working conditions within a center affect human relationships - what effect might it have on the children, parents and staff members?
  • As a future director, what can you do to ensure positive and supportive human relationships are an important part of the organizational culture?
