HW 4 One Way ANO VA Assignment: For the questions below, use JMP and the sample data to answer the questions in context. In the previous homework assignment, we studied the systolic blood pressures of patients in a medical system and their relationship to whether or not the patient smoked. In this homework assignment, we will analyze the same systolic blood pressures, but now we will look at their relationship to the weight of the patient, labeled as either Normal, Overweight, or Obese. 1. Use Graph Builder in JMP to produce a side-by-side boxplot of the systolic blood pressures for the patients based on their weight group. Include the graph on your answer sheet. 2. Describe one difference you see in the side-byside boxplots of the blood pressures between the three groups. 3. Use JMP to obtain the five number summaries and the means and standard deviations of the blood pressures for the three groups. Include the output on your answer sheet. 4. Describe one difference you see in the summary statistics of the blood pressures between the three groups. 5. Use the ANOVA Hypothesis test to answer the following research question: Is there a difference in the mean systolic blood pressures in the three populations of patients determined by their weight? Make sure to include the null and alternative hypotheses, ANOVA Table and F-test statistic, p-value, and conclusion. 6. Use JMP to obtain the pvalues and 95% confidence intervals for the multiple pairwise comparisons of systolic blood pressure among the three weight groups using Tukey's HSD method discussed in lecture. Include the output on your answer sheet. 7. Summarize the results of the three hypothesis tests from the multiple pairwise comparisons output in number 6. 8. Summarize the results of the three condence intervals from the multiple pairwise comparisons output in number 6. 9. Do you have any concerns about the equal variances assumption in this situation? Explain your answer. 10. Do you have any concerns about the normality assumption for each sample mean in this situation? Explain your answer.
