Nat commissions Arthur, a portrait artist, to paint a portrait of himself and his wife, Amelia. The parties agree on the price of $70,000, and that there will be three sittings. Each sitting consists of Arthur and Amelia modeling for 2 hours at Arthur's studio. At the end of the second sitting, Nat's wife complains that she appears too fat in the partially completed painting; she

wants Arthur to make her look slimmer and demands that Arthur paint over the mole above her lip. Arthur refuses to make any adjustments, as he says he is merely painting what appears before him. Nat and Amelia are angry at the temperamental artist's refusal to accede to their demands. They leave in anger, cancel the appointment for the third sitting and declare the
