I agree that taxes should be equitable as well as fair. However, I do have a hard time believing that the wealthiest of Americans pay equitable taxes. According to AmericanProgress.org (2022) the wealthiest of Americans play less tax (in the form of a percentage of income) than lower-income individuals. They pay lower payroll tax as well as only have a portion of their income taxed vice their entire income (AmericanProgress.org, 2022). Based on these factors, it is evident that the American Tax system is complicated and lacks simplicity.
