I have been asked to plan a meeting that highlights the following points -
- My agreed roles/ responsibilities (it must be made clear to the team what I am responsible for and what is not my responsibility)
- I must clarify the feedback I would like from the team in relationship to my role
- Contingency planning - where appropriate, team members should come to me (as they would normally go to the room leader) with any issues that need to be addressed throughout the week in relation to the planned program/ daily tasks/ routines
This is a list of my agreed roles and responsibilities that I will assume for the week as room leader of the planned curriculum -
- My role as room leader is an opportunity for me to experience the challenges of planning and implementing the curriculum and coordinating/leading the room team in the provision of a quality learning program
- My role is to be room leader for the week, I am responsible for directing and managing what happens in the room in relation to the planned program, daily tasks and routines.
- I must be familiar and have an understanding of the EYLF, NQS and regulations to ensure practices in the room are in order.
- I must be aware of the centre's philosophy and policies and procedures as they should be reflected throughout the program and planning.
- I am responsible for developing the children's program for the week but must cooperate and collaborate with other staff members to meet the needs of the children.
- I must ensure a safe environment is maintained.
- I should be supportive, positive and a role model to others.
- I must be flexible, ready to suggest ideas, pay attention to detail, think holistically and be prepared to make changes to the routine during any circumstance.
- I am responsible for delegating jobs such as roles in setting-up, supervising, facilitating and supporting learning. Ensuring it Is clear and fair so no one feels overwhelmed.
I am not responsible for -
- Any issues relating to staffing, child protection, parent complaints/concerns etc.
