I am asking the tutor to write a response in 250 words to the questions below.

1. Interpretation of the bible has created a variance of denominations and faiths within the umbrella of Christianity. There are limitations that stem from the theological practice that people follow, for example, some Christians believe that the bible should be interpreted verbatim and that there is no room for personal interpretation of what the bible says. Others believe that the Bible is inspired by God and that it should be read as a whole story rather than verse by verse. However, because there have been so many variations of the bible as it has been interpreted in different languages the words may have slight alterations that create different meanings for different people. Additionally, how the bible is studied and the community that people come from influence how they view religion and their interpretation of religious practices. For example, I grew up Catholic and there are sacraments that we must make within our religion that were based on biblical principles. Other Christian denominations believe that the sacraments are not necessary because it is through Christ alone and not the sacraments that we find salvation. No one truly knows which variation is "correct" but they will validate their position based on their teachings, interpretations, and beliefs of the bible.

2. Intellectual humility means that someone is open to the perspectives of others and respects the diversity of thought and belief. We can listen to what other people have to say and examine our own belief systems, while also remaining firm on our convictions of truth. Unfortunately, low intellectual humility is ever present in media as making people look stupid for their beliefs becomes more of a viral sensation. It's seen on both sides of the aisle with people trying to "own" or "roast" the opposing view. In my opinion, the overwhelming access to information can at times make it difficult for everyday people to gather the truth about a situation which causes an influx in gathering biased based information which keeps people in a bubble of low intellectual humility. I have definitely fallen victim to thinking poorly or down on people who have had different views than my own. I am constantly trying to remind myself that I am not superior to other people for how I view things.

3. My intellectual humility is a reflection of my overall well-being. If I am in a strong space with my mental, physical, and social health I think I demonstrate a higher level of intellectual humility where I am capable of accepting that there is a world of information that I don't know. I am also able to have greater empathy for the life experiences of other people to have a deeper understanding of why they view the world in a certain way. However, if I am not in the best space, my intellectual humility takes a hit and I am on a mission to prove that I am right. As a student and researcher humility is critical because having an unbias opinion is necessary to advance the body of knowledge and seek information. As we saw in our lab this week, we may have predictions or hypotheses about what the outcomes "should" be but that doesn't make them true. It is critical to report accurately what the results demonstrated and not alter them to fix or contribute to our own narrative.
