I am going to choose to write about the federal budget and as it pertains to the funding of the US Agriculture society. According to the federal budget plan, The Budget provides $7.1 billion for critical nutrition programs, including $6.3 billion to fully fund the 6.5 million individuals expected to participate in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program (SNAP) for Women, Infants, and Children, which is critical to the health of pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and young children (Budget of the.., 2023). In my opinion, these are great things to decide to spend money on in terms of the department of agriculture. Although, I still feel as though some of these numbers are miniscule compared to the greater society. For example, there will be much more than 6.5 million pregnant women in the United States this coming year. This funding can only support a small fraction of them. Also, it is not as much of a spending issue as it is a culture issue in America when it comes to what to eat, how much to eat, and what is actually necessary to fuel our bodies to function properly.
