I view Lane and Gast's recommendations as an ideal that we as future behavior analysts should strive for, but do not think they are user friendly. I say this because of the degree of detail in their analysis. The authors included seven procedural steps for assessing the within condition analysis of graphed data along with five procedural steps for analyzing the between conditions along with a number of recommendations that have varying degrees of subjectivity. There already is a lot of ambiguity in the interpretation of events recorded within ABA that the authors had mentioned, making the recording of accurate data more challenging. I think these procedures and recommendations are practical for behavior analysts but there is a lack of data literacy in the world currently and expecting this type of precision from regular people with alternative skillsets and careers would be unrealistic.
