The individual negatively influencing them to commit a heinous act could be a family member, friend or even due to the media. In regards to this situation, the four men who were convicted along with the victim were all clearly aware of the ramifications of the drug industry and how it could detrimentally affect their lives. Being a part of such violent gangs, these violent tendencies were clearly witnessed and used in the past to get rid of any threats. Both of these theories, Rational Choice and Social Learning allow us to have a better understanding how the ideology of a criminal's mind before they proceed with the offence. The first theory, Rational Choice theory allows us insight into what could possibly motivate them while Social Learning theory educates us on social variables that lead them. Both theories provide information that benefits us to understand the offenders and victims in more depth.

There are many variables and reasonings as to why individuals choose to indulge themselves in these kinds of lifestyles and being educated on these reasons helps put families at ease as well as give citizens a sense of sorrow and empathy."
