I am looking for the excel spreadsheet to help with the formulas.

Using the data from your Wk 3 Mean Median, and Mode assignment, demonstrate in graphic form the variability of the 2 examples.

Week 3 data below:

Example 1

X (income) No. of persons
200 24
250 26
180 16
300 20
350 6
280 30

Mean: 251.48 The Mean is the income of all persons divided by the total number of persons.

Income of all the persons = (X-income* Number of persons) = 30,680

Total persons = (Number of persons) = 122 and Mean = 30680/122 = 251.48

Median: 250

The Median is calculated by arranging the income of all persons in ascending order to find the middle value.

Mode: 280The Mode is the repeated value of income in the data set.

Range: 170

The Range is the difference in the maximum and minimum value of data. Range = 250-180 = 170

Interquartile Range: 80 IQR = 280-200 = 80

Standard Deviation: 13 ((xi-)2/n)1/2

X (Income)

(a)

Number of Persons

(b)

Cumulative

(c)

Product (d)

= (a)*(b)

180 16 16 2880
200 24 40 4800
250 26 66 6500
280 30 96 8400
300 20 116 6000
350 6 122 2100
Sum 122 30680

Example 2

X (income) No. of persons Cumulative frequency (cf)
180 16 16
200 24 40
250 26 66
280 30 96

Mean: 235.21 The Mean is the income of all persons divided by the total number of persons.

Median: 250 The Median is calculated by arranging the income of all persons in ascending order to find the middle value.

Mode: 280 The Mode is the repeated value of income in the data set.

Range:100The Range is the difference in the maximum and minimum value of data.

Interquartile Range: 80

Standard Deviation: 8.236
