I can't get a full grasp of what a probability density function is, at least in relation to a certain problem. Why is it that the graph must be positive and maintain an area of 1 underneath its curve? Additionally, what information in regards to the probability of a certain situation is gained from using a pdf? Any explanation or example of the graph's usage in relation to a certain situation would be great.
