Northern believes it will use the computer for ten years and can sell it at the end of that period for $2,500. Northern uses the reducing balance method of depreciation and an annual depreciation rate of 30%. Northern invested $960,000 in a term deposit with a bank for one year at an annual rate of 10% on 1 February 2020 (interest will be paid by the bank at the end of the investment period). Northern received 48,000 on 1 May 2020 to store musical equipment until 31 October 2020. Northern credited the ll] amount to Prepaid Revenue on 1 May 2020. On 1 May 2020, Northern paid $3,000 to the local newspaper for an advertisement to run each Thursday for 12 weeks. All advertisements have been run except for three Thursdays in July to complete 12week contract. Northern initially treated the payment as asset. Northern borrowed $2,500,000 at 9% annual interest rate on 1 December 2019. The loan requires Northern to pay the interest quarterly until the loan is repaid in two years.
