I had a supervisor that helped make me become a better lead for the department and also grow as an individual. Some of the supervisors were hands on when it came to the work and others were not. She was very hands on because she wanted to make sure her department succeeded. Our director wanted the supervisors to be less hands on and allow the leads to step up more. She taught me how to shift associates to needed work areas and also see the bigger picture so we would never get behind. This helped me grow and place more responsibility on myself. Monica my supervisor was never afraid to be honest or tell it like it was. I think that is also why I had such great respect for her. I went through a lot of challenges before I became better at leading others. In the end it helped me not only grow as a person but understand how to handle challenges no matter the size. "Once the problem has been identified, the next step is to find out alternative solutions to the problem" (Dutta, 2015). Having team huddles, knowing how to place people where and how to be positive even through the toughest times can really make a difference. I still practice a lot of her teaching, as they have helped me grow into new positions and pass on what I learned from her.
