These new regulations will allow domestically located medical cannabis companies and farms to expand and grow after being faced with constant imported competition. This announcement was enthusiastically received by potential and current investors seeing share prices on the ASX of Australian medical marijuana producers soar, increasing on average by 30%. Furthermore, joint ventures with overseas companies has become more appealing, which caused a trading halt for Queensland Bauxite, as investors waited for the potential announcement.

Efficient Market Hypothesis / Capital Market Research

Efficient market hypothesis claims that a capital market is efficient when the security prices properly reflect all the relevant information available (Timmermann & Granger, 2004, P.16). Providing the legitimacy of this hypothesis, semi-strong form efficiency exists which is considered special (Alekneviien, Kviedaraitien and Alekneviit, 2018, P.496). Semi-form form assumes that at any moment, security prices reflect, all publicly available information which incorporates historical data and information (weak-from). Furthermore, security prices will without biases change rapidly to any relevant new public information announced to the market (ian, 2015, P.443). Alekneviien, Kviedaraitien and Alekneviit (2018, P.496) state that when a semi-strong form efficient market exist, there is no ability to use the capital markets to earn excess returns, as the security prices only reflect available information in which all market participants should be familiar with.
