Hello Class,

For this discussion, we are looking at group decision-making and techniques used. The first video I chose is with a gentleman named Alexander Lyon. He gives 7 top decision-making techniques, and he breaks down each one. I think this was a good video, he is thorough, and he cites Beebe, S. A., & Masterson, J. T. (2020) Communicating in small groups (12th edition). Pearson. Which is a credible source. For your awareness, his 7 Top Team and group decision-making techniques or methods were: 1. Decision by an expert in the group 2. Decision by an expert outside of the group 3. Averaging individual ratings and rankings 4. Random choice 5. Majority rule 6. Minority decision 7. Consensus. He is boring to listen to and really doesn't keep your attention in my opinion, but his video supports the background materials. This video does not call out the Nominal Group Technique or the Delphi Technique, but you can see in these 7 that you could associate them with these techniques very easily. I would recommend this video for use in this module.

My second video was by the "Productivity Guy". He breaks down how to improve decision-making skills in your decision-making process. He uses illustrations and animations to breakdown decision making, what decisions we are faced with, and how they will affect everything we do. It's very basic and he really doesn't get into actual methodology of how to make decisions. He does point out that decisions must align with your goals, that small decisions have a big impact, and that you must remove yourself from the situation when making decisions. I would not recommend this video.
