I have always had a hard time buying into the concepts that a project failure is a good thing since the organization can do a review and, "learn from the failure." For years we have waited until the end of a project and then quickly tried to throw some lessons learned together as part of a project closing process, but at a point where we really could not remember anything of value or significance.

Do you think organizations really have to wait until a project fails to really learn anything? Do you think there is any good from a failed project?
