I have to write a Research Design Proposal. My Research question is " at what age do teens start vaping and where do they get the product?" What kinf of test do I administer my professor sugested T-test (A z test can only be used when we know the population values. As we do not typically have these values, we utilize a t-test instead. However, you are collecting descriptive information and you do not have a comparison group.)

I wrote this: The data collected for this research will be primary data because we will be collecting new information via our survey research. It is important to calculate the significance levels for the population to determine at what age teens start vaping. My research will determine what age group has the most individuals engaged in vaping practices. An article by Mishra et al. (2019) states that researchers should consider the Z test to compare the proportions between two groups for independent and dependent groups. The Z test will aid in finding out the proportion of each age group. Knowing the frequency of the age variable will be instrumental in public policy methods to address teen vaping.

So what is the best data type to collect the information i need and why?
