Marketing teams have had to become very creative with ad placements over the last decade, and one of the spots that has fascinated me a lot is the use of digital ads at gas stations. Gas pumps with small display screens constantly playing ads has become common at most gas stations. As annoying as it is to hear an ad blaring while you are just trying to pump gas, they are incredibly useful marketing spaces for the companies to use.

Gas stations with convenience stores like Gate, 711, and Daily's all rely on making majority of their profits from the sales tied to the convenience stores. In 2006 GSTV was introduced as a way to provide gas stations with advertisements that you would see on social media, in hopes to further increase awareness of the convenience stores offerings. The medium used allowed for a marketing tool that ensured every single customer that came to the company would be individually marketed to, "...in fact, GSTV reaches 1 in 3 American adults monthly..." (Karr, 2020). Having a 1 in 3rd ensured rate that customers will come into your stores to spend money on additional products is huge success.

This marketing trend is one that is going to continue expanding. The introduction of GSTV has revolutionized the marketing capabilities for gas stations everywhere. Marketing space is limited at gas stations, and the use of a small display screen greatly helps. I would not be surprised to see other companies try to implement a similar marketing tool to get the success rates that GSTV has.
