Arendt said that the trial of Eichmann was only done by one country, not by an international court. When people live in civilised countries, they have to go through trials to make sure that their rights are protected by the government. This is very different from the way that Nazi Germany did this. Arendt thought that the trial should be held in an international court, and she didn't want Eichmann to be tried outside of the law. When the trials were going on, she didn't like what she called a lot of the "shows" or "rites." The trials were a big moment in the history of both the Jewish people and the whole world. People who were killed in the Holocaust tried Eichmann in a different way than the people who won the war did.
