I looked into more research on the effect of air quality and its link to public health in regards to the policy you mentioned. I was lucky enough to find an article that talked about greenhouse gases and their effect on public health, namely asthma. The article stated that, "Researchers say that carbon dioxide emissions from cars, trucks, and industry are causing plants and molds to boostpollenand spore production. Morepollenin the air is likely worsening allergic diseases such asasthmaand may be to blame for the rise in cases among children" (Zwillich, WebMD, 2004). This study was done in the early 2000s and given that the policy you mentioned went into effect after it, I have to wonder if there has been any change in the link between air quality and potential asmtha cases in children. Given the fact that there are federal policies in place to attempt to curb the amount of green house gases released into the atmosphere, do you think there are any ways that local cities can also enact ordinances to help with climate change?
