I NEED A 200 WORD RESPNSE ASAP!!!!!!!! PLEASE HELP ME. RESPOND TO THE FOLLOWING:

In my personal opinion, I would have to agree with Herb Kelleher and Southwest Airlines' definition of social responsibility. The backing for my opinion is based off of the ideas which Herb Kelleher spoke about in the conference video. I do believe that a business, or corporation should provide premier customer service. Herb Kelleher explains that a business or corporation which exercises proper social responsibility provides great customer service, and has a strong employee base. Kelleher stresses the importance of leadership and grants responsibility to the employees, which are the people who actually deliver the customer service. Another point that Herb Kelleher touches on is the attitude of the company's employees. Herb says that he prefers a good attitude, he doesn't want anyone with a bad attitude to achieve having power in his company because if a such thing were to happen, it would be a weak spot in the team leadership.

As for Friedman's definition of social responsibility, I will have to also agree with it. This quote from the New York Times Magazine about Friedman's stand on social responsibility states: "There is one and only one responsibility of business to use its resources to engage in activities designed to increase its profits, so long as it stays within the rules of the game, which is to say, engages in open and free competition without deception or fraud." As a person with some experience in the world of business, I get why he would want the goal of his company to be maximizing profits. In Friedman's eyes, a business produces a product which appeals to the general public, and is able to be produced for less than it is able to be sold for. Friedman believes that as long as people are willing to buy the product, and it is affordable, that the social responsibility of the business has been maintained and will continue to prosper. However, the general public and the consumers are actually combatant towards this approach because they might feel as if they mean nothing to the company other than profit. This negative outlook can draw customers away from the products and or services of the particular company, while at the same time, drawing them towards a different company. For example a company which is ran by somebody who sides with Herb Kelleher on the topic of social responsibility of a business.

I am afraid that they are not in agreement at all. While Herb Kelleher strives to provide great customer service and employ determined leaders with positive attitudes to ensure the business is ran properly, efficiently, and effectively; Friedman's business is only concerned with generating the maximum possible income the fastest, at the lowest possible cost. What that means is that the money of both businesses is spent differently, for example, in Kelleher's business money would go towards employee training, or ensuring that customers are satisfied. Money in Friedman's business would be spent on increasing product output and decreasing the cost of production. This is where the two different points of view would differ in the actual business setting. The only part of social responsibility of a business which they may agree on is the effects of the business on the environment and the share holders/investors.
