As we all know, these last two years during the COVID-19 pandemic we have experienced an abundance of challenges within the global supply chain. Some examples of this include many household and items like toilet paper, hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes and much more. Another major supply chain issue that majorly affected the housing market is the shortage of building supplies that occurred do to manufacturing companies shutting down due to the pandemic as well as slowing production. This causes for the availability in constructions materials such as concrete and lumber to be scarce and increase significantly in price. The has cause a halt in home construction as well as price increases due to the housing shortage that was fueled by limited building materials.

The pandemic has caused many businesses to reevaluate their operations in order to stay in business. Because of this, businesses have come to the realization that skilled supply chain managers are necessary to maintain operations on a global, national, and local scale. Supply chain managers have had to overcome shortages of raw materials due to the decreased production that the pandemic caused by cutting cost elsewhere and finding other suppliers to meet their goals. Because of these challenges, the roles of supply chain managers has increased as in many cases they are now elevated above C-suite executives to oversee all major components of business operations.
