I need a response to this discussion answer This class continues to help me learn more about the importance of ethical standards and responsibilities. I enjoy discovering diverse ways in which ethics can help me not only become a better person but a better role model for other people I come in contact with. Although I found many things interesting, what stood out to me this week was the concept of maintaining confidentiality. "Psychologists have a primary obligation and take reasonable precautions to protect confidential information obtained through or stored in any medium, recognizing that the extent and limits of confidentiality may be regulated by law or established by institutional rules or professional or scientific relationship."( Fisher,2017). As we continue to learn more about our profession of choice, we all have an ethical responsibility to ensure employees and clients feel safe at work. This class helps us utilize many concepts we learn in real-life situations. I have witnessed many people, unfortunately, lose their jobs due to breaches of confidentiality. I truly believe if more people were informed about standard ethical principles, then perhaps behaviors and the way we mentally process information would change as well. Originally I grew up in Compton, California and a lot of people I've observed have had trouble ethically processing certain situations. We should all be allowed to learn about these helpful topics, such as maintaining confidentiality, unethical behaviors, unfair discrimination, and violation of standards at a younger age so that by the time we reach adulthood, we will be more knowledgeable and prepared. I plan on applying the aspects I learn in this class daily. Learning different facets of ethics has helped me place rational justification on the decisions I make in my daily life. Sometimes I made decisions based on my mood or mere emotional sentiments. I want to continue making choices based on ethical reasoning and what's in the best interest of myself and others. Ethics also helps teach us how to conform to certain behaviors based on our environmental surroundings. Learning how to adapt ourselves to different situations continues to help us thrive and succeed in future endeavors. What's unclear is how we still don't have an ethics course in all high school curriculums. Do you believe if we did, we would have a chance to truly make a difference? That is another great question for another time. I think it can surface real change.
