- An MIS can be used for marketing purposes by "having acquired databases that hold enormous amounts of sales and consumer information, internal company data that has internal communication networks have access to information on different business units, departments, and even employees. It also has marketing intelligence that monitor competitors' websites, and marketing research that provides information about your business environment, competitors and customers." (Using Marketing Information Systems MIS, Gigi DeVault, January 3, 2020). This helps because with it monitory your competitors you can see where you can adjust your business's needs.

These technological advances save customers time by not having to physically pick out items. In March 2022, Wal Mart begin plans to expand its technology hub and hire thousands of more workers in the US and Canada. The investment is aimed at offering more digital tools to boost convenience for workers and shoppers, the retail giant says (Washington Post, 2022).

MIS (Marketing Information System) is defined as people and procedures dedicated to assessing information needs, developing the needed information, and helping decision makers to use the information to generate and validate actionable customer and market insights (Kotler, 2020). There are three ways MIS is/can be used for marketing purposes 1.) it interacts with these information users to assess information needs. 2.) it interacts with these information users to assess information needs. 3.) helps users to analyze and use the information to develop customer insights, make marketing decisions, and manage customer engagement and relationships (Kotler, 2020). Walmart likely uses its management information system to make decisions about which products to sell, how to price products, and how to promote products (Kyinbridges, 2021).

CRM (Customer Relationship Management) is defined as managing detailed information about individual customers and carefully managing customer touch points to maximize customer loyalty (Kotler, 2020). CRM can be utilized by companies in marketing to understand their customers better by: 1.) providing higher levels of customer service and develop deeper customer relationships. 2.) to pinpoint high-value customers, target them more effectively, cross-sell the company's products, and create offers tailored to specific customer requirements (Kotler, 2020). In WalMart's case, they do not use one CRM strategy. However, they use a variety of channels and Omni channel processes to engage with their customers; this allows them to connect with their customers more personally and improve customer loyalty and retention (Organized, 2022).
