Let y denote race of victim and x denote race of murderer. (a) Which conditional distributions do these statistics refer to, those of y at given levels of x or those of x at given levels of y? Set up a contingency table showing these distributions. (4 pts) The conditional distributions in this case would be those of y at given levels of x because it would make more sense that race of murderer inuences race of victime rather than race of victim inuencing race of murderer. (b) Are x and y independent or dependent? Explain. (4 pts)
