Background: ABC Inc. has been in business since 1916. It began as a supplier of equipment and supplies to the Beer Brewing and Distillery industry. In 1974 it began carrying and servicing equipment for the Food and Beverage industry which also includes Quick Serve restaurants, Convenience Stores, Cruise Ships, and other food serving companies, ABC Inc. currently has its head office and largest warehouse (with lots of unused space) in Edmonton but also has sales offices and distribution warehouses in Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, and Vancouver. Each warehouse is owned by the company and currently has their own Purchasing, Inventory, Order Entry, Delivery departments and a small fleet of 2-3 delivery trucks. By 1985 ABC Inc. had completely transitioned to be solely in the Food and Beverage Equipment business. Each warehouse consists of 3 sections; Parts, Equipment, and Supplies. The Parts section contains many shelving units with small service and repair parts for the equipment they sell. The Equipment section contains equipment ranging in size from toasters to large walk-in-coolers. The Supplies section contains things like breading for the chicken cooking equipment, cleaning supplies, etc. The company wants to "centralize" all of their warehousing and related departments into their largest warehouse. However, each of the sales offices along with their showrooms/test kitchens will remain in each city, and you will have to decide how to accommodate this. The company is expecting to realize large savings on an annual basis but also wants to continue to give the same, if not better level of service to its customers.
