I need help describing the manager of a neonatal intensive care unit that I did my leadership on. This manager was rarely seen. She communicates via text, email, and phone calls. She is rarely on the floor or rarely communicates with the staff. She decides where patients are placed within the unit when they come onto the floor during day shift. She also meets with the charge nurse in the mornings Monday-Friday to discuss the day and any needs/concerns. She has a very distant approach. I am not sure how to answer this question without being rude. I asked several nurses on the unit and they said this is how she works.
