How I Use the Internet

With worldwide internet access, billions of individuals utilize the Internet in a variety of ways. Think about the ways you connect to the Internet. Be sure that you consider not only access from a personal computer but also mobile access. You will create a pie chart showing your Internet usage.

Before getting started on your pie chart, consider the following:

What do you do online for work? For school? For fun?

Do you interact on social media?

Do you play online games?

Do you access e-mail?

Do you research information?

Do you follow news feeds or other sites with regular updates?

On average, how much time do you spend on the Internet in a typical day or week?

Create a pie chart showing how you utilize the Internet. The pie slices should be sized based on the percentage of time you spend on the given activity.

You can create a pie chart utilizing Microsoft Excel. Enter what you do in one column and the amount of time you spend on each in the second column. Then, use the insert charts toolbar to add a pie chart. This will create a basic pie chart. You can reformat and edit to better show your data.

Post, your pie chart showing your Internet usage to the Discussion Board. Also include a brief description of how you typically utilize the Internet. Your description should provide context for interpreting the pie chart. Give the overall context in which you utilize the Internet such as: I work as a customer liaison for development of custom computer chips and attend an online university. I am not a big gamer but do enjoy socializing online.
