You are the Enterprise Risk Manager at Aardvark Manufacturing, Inc., a large manufacturing company that has plants in 10 rural locations along the U.S. East Coast, each near a major airport from which your company's goods are shipped by air. Inbound supplies come in by air and local trucking, except for lumber and steel, which come in by long-haul truck from Canada and Pennsylvania. Aardvark's plants require constant supplies of key materials, including lumber from Weston Forest in Mississauga, Ontario; steel from Intsel Steel in Bridgeport, Connecticut, tungsten from Xi'an HuaShan Tungsten Products in Xi'an, China, and cobalt from Glencore, a Swiss company headquartered in Baar that ships cobalt from the Mutanda mine in Lualaba Province, Democratic Republic of Congo. You are starting the process of identifying risks, starting with Aardvark's risk exposure with regard to the company's supplies and materials. Use an internet search engine to become familiar with the current situation with regard to Aardvark's lumber, steel, tungsten, and cobalt suppliers. On the basis of your research, identify a pure risk to the company's supply for each key material. Then write the following reports: Write an short speech" describing what you take to be the most significant supply risk to each of these four key supplies.
