1. Mark said? This weeks reading went over how to be an effective leader, follower. The reading also discussed how we can interpret power and how it plays a pivotalrole in the political atmosphere. Thebookdefinition of power is the potential to influence others or thecapacity to change the behavior or attitude of another in a desired fashion (Uhi-Bein, et al., 2021). Power can be derived from just about it almost any setting between people through a force, or action occurringagainst another'swill. Personal power lies within us, and is generated through interpersonal relationships while position power is formed from a hierarchy. Political savvy refers to the skill of reading politically charged environments and understanding how to adapt accordingly. Another term for political savvy is political skill. Networking could involve the situation for political skill, but networking can differ because it refers to interacting with others with the goal of creating professional contacts. Political skill can involve more awareness into human behavior and flattery with the goal of building trust that can be used for political gain at a later time.
2. David said? After reading this area of the textbook I found that there are two different kinds of leadership styles. The first leadership style is called leader member exchange in which the leader creates a relationship with certain members of their team. While some might call this kind of relationship inappropriate, it is considered to be professional due to the nature of it being close and non-confrontational. This leader will not only listen more closely to the ideas of those in this particular circle, but the members of thiscircle will know that they can express anything to this leader and not be judged.
Another style of leadership is called house's path and goal leadership which means if a leader wants to be successful in their role then they need to use techniques such as supportive leadership as well as participation leadership. This strategy is based on members of the team that are encouraging and bring new and great ideas to the table for the team. In the event a team member makes the decision to do their own thing such as starting their own business, instead of the leader ignoring them, the leader will help them get on a path to being successful in all that they do.
