I need help studying for my mid-term. Jurisdiction is an area I have had a tough time with. I have to asses situations like this and need help explaining and I have posted a few examples.

Abbey works as a cook on a towboat that travels up and down the Mississippi River. She lives in Louisiana when not on the boat (approximately four months per year). The towboat company is located in Minnesota. As the boat is passing between the states of Missouri and Illinois, there is a grease fire and Abbey is severely burned. The boat ties up on the Illinois side of the river. An ambulance takes her to a local hospital, but she is airlifted to a burn center in Missouri, where she remains for treatment for nearly a year.Which court(s) does or does not have subject matter jurisdiction. Assuming that there are no other rules regarding jurisdiction and no issue is subject to federal jurisdiction.
