Some companies have completely done away with formal structures like functional, multi-divisional, etc. Instead, these companies are trying to run like a democracy, where each employee gets a vote on major issues such as compensation. Do you think these experiments will be successful, and if so, at what kinds of companies and for what kinds of decisions? In what kinds of companies or for what kinds of decisions would such attempts be a bad idea?
