Suppose that the probability of arrest for an o ender who commits a residential burglary is 0.20. Use this information to answer the questions below.

() Suppose that you draw a sample of 8 active burglars. If for each person there are two possible outcomes (arrested vs. not arrested), how many total sequences are possible?

() What is the probability that the first o ender will be arrested, the next four will not be arrested, and the last three will be arrested?

() In the same sample of eight offenders, what is the probability that any two out of the eight will be arrested?

What is the probability that any four or more active burglars will be arrested out of that eight?

() In a sample of 50 active burglars, how many would you expect to be arrested, on average? What is the variance around this estimate?
