I need help with wash shares repurchased numbers along with their per share basis. I don't know how to calculate either one?
I started by calculating:
Repurchase: 9.20
+loss: 5.76
= 14.96 per share of the new basis
It says I'm incorrect?
Facts: On June 1, 2019 you decided to sell shares of stock in a variety of companies. These shares were purchased at various dates. Calculate your gain or loss per share as a result of the June 1st sale. On June 14, 2019 you decided that you really think these shares are going to increase substantially in value. Therefore, in an attempt to buy back shares while their prices are still low, you repurchased some of these shares in various quantities. Due to the wash sale rules, you know that some or all of the losses from the June 1, 2019 sales may be disallowed. Therefore, calculate the dissallowed losses (if any) and your basis in the newly aquired shares. Finally, because you bought these shares over various dates, you have two seperate categories of shares: those remaining from the original purchase and those from the June 14th purchase. Calculate the total number of shares owned and their basis in total.
