I need this reworte in short essay version (600 min):
As mentioned above, the company where Marshall and his team are, is a start-up company. Meaning, it is still new and fresh. This company, a software development company, is building a leading-edge package in a competitive market. The problem was, beating deadlines gets harder because the project continues to get bigger - partly because the CEO & investors want more. It was also mentioned that Marshall and his team are kids in a candy store. Imagine kids in a candy store? Chaos right?
One cause of this problem is, they are a startup company. According to Pratt, a startup company is a newly formed business with particular momentum behind it based on perceived demand for its product or service. The intention of a startup is to grow rapidly as a result of offering something that addresses a particular market gap (Pratt, 2017). It is always hard to begin things, right? Even if we are experts in a field, we cannot do the job perfectly in the first days, weeks, or even months! The demand for the product gets bigger and bigger, not to mention that Marshall and his team are in the process of what we call "Learning Curve".
According to valamis.com, a learning curve is a correlation between a learner's performance on a task and the number of attempts or time required to complete the task; this can be represented as a direct proportion on a graph. Simply stated, the learning curve theory proposes that a learner's efficiency in a task improves over time the more the learner performs the task. Since the company is a startup, the processes of marshall and his team is not yet that perfect. However, according to the learning curve theory, as time goes by and the more the team performs the job, the faster they will be able to finish the job. Simply stated, they will improve as time goes by.
Another cause of the problem mentioned is that the project continues to get bigger - partly because the CEO & investors want more. Of course, the project will get bigger eventually. It means growth. It is an advantage on the part of the company because it simply means more and more profit will be earned. However, it will cause stress on the part of the team because they will have to produce more product and beat deadlines. This might compromise the quality of the product and may affect the performance of the company in the competition.
One way to address these problems is to perform assessment on the current processes they are doing. Are the processes efficient? Can it still be improved? How can these processes be improved? The company may hire consultants who are experts in Operations Management and let them do the assessment and plan the course of action that the company should do to improve their processes. This will help the company determine its strengths and weaknesses thus allowing the company to understand areas where improvement is needed. In addition, the company should also add its manpower. It should hire more employees who are highly skilled, talented and efficient to improve the overall performance of Marshall's team, and the company as a whole.
