I need to provide a best longand a best short. Using the following guidelines.

1. Please mention whether the best long or short is for the next few weeks (Short term) or for the next 12 to 18 months (Long term).

2. Project your price objective and minimum price target should be based on technical analysis and not guess and this minimum price target should not be less that 20% for short term and should be a minimum of 33 % for long term (12 to 18 months).

I go first, I think the risk/reward for gold stocks seems very good, therefore for the next 12 months I say the gold stock index maybe a good candidate for best long if it breaks the downtrend line:

1. It is at a historical low, we took the low of 2008, a lot of people were stopped out

2. The downtrend line should be broken

3. The indicators (MACD, RSI) should give a bullish divergence. It seems they are giving now a bullish divergent (Price is making a new low but indicator is not making a new low)

If 2 and 3 happens I will go long GDX
