This method is important to project management in today's business environment as it allows for proper consideration for which trade-offs need to be made and where best to prioritize resources throughout the project to meet organizational strategic goals.

Using the integrative approach, the Project Management Institute (2021) demonstrates that the project manager will be able to consider all elements of a project in order to ensure the project is executed upon with optimal efficiency and allows for scope and cost to be accurately assessed from the beginning to keep stakeholders aware of the benefits and risks to a project. The Project is defined by the Project Management Institute (2021) as a formal document that states a project's goals, objectives, and potential resource requirements before the scope is planned out in detail. This charter has the purpose of establishing a baseline of benefits to a project and overall cost of obtaining those benefits, and seeks approval from the stakeholder(s) in charge of approving the project to begin.

These groups need to know any changes made and frequent information that needs communication plans including status reports, deliverables, team meetings, request changes, action items, gating decisions, and changes in scope. The benefit of strong communication is being able to control the flow of information allowing for reduced interruptions and confusion (Larson et al., 2018).

A project charter is a legal document that is used to authorize the project and provide the project manager with the authority to apply organizational resources for all project activities. The purpose of the charter is to include all elements of the preliminary scope statement and what is and what is not part of the project. The main intent is to cover all aspects in a single document. They are essential in the process to provide proof that everyone including stakeholders approved and the charter acts as a record of the information.
