Hello Class,
As the Project Management Institute (2021) shows, the integrative approach in project management is the attempt to coordinate every single element of a project, including task coordination, resources, stakeholder, and any other project elements to be included. This method is important to project management in today's business environment as it allows for proper consideration for which trade-offs need to be made and where best to prioritize resources throughout the project to meet organizational strategic goals.
Using the integrative approach, the Project Management Institute (2021) demonstrates that the project manager will be able to consider all elements of a project in order to ensure the project is executed upon with optimal efficiency and allows for scope and cost to be accurately assessed from the beginning to keep stakeholders aware of the benefits and risks to a project. The Project is defined by the Project Management Institute (2021) as a formal document that states a project's goals, objectives, and potential resource requirements before the scope is planned out in detail. This charter has the purpose of establishing a baseline of benefits to a project and overall cost of obtaining those benefits, and seeks approval from the stakeholder(s) in charge of approving the project to begin.

In Project Management an integrative approach is the coordination of all project elements. This includes tasks, resources, stakeholders, and all other deliverables. It shows all high-level aspects of managing a project life cycle initiation, planning, executing, closing, monitoring, and controlling (Asana, 2024). The Seven Steps to project integration include creating a project charter, developing a project plan, directing and managing project tasks, managing project knowledge, monitoring and controlling project tasks, performing integrated change control, and closing out the project (Asana, 2024).
In today's business environment, the integration approach can allow for success by having a dynamic organizational process. The approach coordinates and has precise organization throughout the project life cycle. This allows for an understanding of individual tasks and keeps everything on track. Project integration provides many benefits including organization to the project team, stakeholders, and the project manager (Asana, 2024).
Failure to meet the needs or to identify stakeholders can result in project failure. A project manager can have a positive relationship with stakeholders by identifying their needs and managing their requirements. Ensuring expectations are appropriate and nothing is over-promised. Lastly checking in regularly provides the ability to resolve problems quicker (Serrador, 2009). Creating a communication plan with stakeholders is essential. These groups need to know any changes made and frequent information that needs communication plans including status reports, deliverables, team meetings, request changes, action items, gating decisions, and changes in scope. The benefit of strong communication is being able to control the flow of information allowing for reduced interruptions and confusion (Larson et al., 2018).
A project charter is a legal document that is used to authorize the project and provide the project manager with the authority to apply organizational resources for all project activities. The purpose of the charter is to include all elements of the preliminary scope statement and what is and what is not part of the project. The main intent is to cover all aspects in a single document. It acts as a comprehensive overview and controls changes throughout the project life cycle (Government of Canada, 2012). They are essential in the process to provide proof that everyone including stakeholders approved and the charter acts as a record of the information. The charter includes the scope, budget, objectives, risk management, project team, and other important project details. It is essential for a successful project foundation (Asana, 2024; Larson et al., 2018)

The integrated management method is a human centred approach to management that blends systematic oversight with people's complex behaviours (Walker, 2013). It is a methodical, comprehensive idea built on social interactions, agile approaches, stakeholder discussions, and sustainable principles. Approach that prioritizes coordinating and cooperating amongst various project stakeholders and aspects in order to accomplish project goals This strategy focuses on coordinating the activities of several departments, stakeholders, and team members to guarantee that the project is finished effectively and within the specified parameters.
An integrated approach is essential in today's business environment since projects frequently involve stakeholders with varying interests and expectations as well as complicated interdependencies. Organizations may handle these complexities more skillfully, lessen friction, and improve project success rates by implementing an integrated strategy. To accomplish project goals, various project components and stakeholders must cooperate and coordinate in an integrated approach to project management.
- Good decision-making and communication are made possible by integrative project management, which encourages team members to collaborate and communicate effectively, which improves problem-solving and decision-making. The foundation for establishing and preserving solid stakeholder relationships is communication. Maintaining regular and unambiguous communication with stakeholders on project updates, modifications, and possible problems helps to manage their expectations. It offers a forum for input from stakeholders and answers from the project team, encouraging cooperative decision-making and dispute resolution (Muscad, 2023).
- Optimal resource utilization: An integrated strategy helps companies minimize waste and redundancy by integrating various project components. Optimizing resource allocation effectively can result in lower project costs. Organizations may reduce wasteful spending and increase cost-effectiveness by setting priorities for their tasks and allocating resources effectively (Optimizing Resource Allocation - FasterCapital, n.d.).
- Better project outcomes: By assisting project teams in recognizing and addressing interconnections and interdependencies across project parts, an integrative approach lowers risks and uncertainties. With this method, project managers may reduce possible problems, handle risks more skillfully, and provide better project results.
A project manager can employ a number of tactics to effectively and efficiently meet the demands of all project stakeholders:
- Engagement with stakeholders: Stakeholder analysis generally refers to the variety of methods or instruments used to recognize and comprehend the requirements and expectations of key stakeholders both inside and outside the project environment. To determine the requirements, expectations, and concerns of the stakeholders, the project manager should perform a thorough stakeholder analysis. The project manager may better connect with stakeholders, prioritize their requirements, and create successful communication strategies with the support of this analysis Smith, L. W. (2000).
- Transparency and open communication: Transparent communication is the practice of freely providing important information to all parties involved at every stage of the project. It includesresponding to any issues or dangers, as well as giving updates and progress reports. Construction businesses may create confidence, credibility, and responsibility while keeping stakeholders informed and involved by communicating proactively and upholding openness. By including stakeholders in the decision-making process and providing them with regular updates on the status of the project, transparent communication fosters trust among stakeholders (Energy, 2024).
- Ongoing assessment and enhancement: The project manager has to set up procedures for routinely assessing the project's effectiveness and stakeholder contentment. This assessment aids in pinpointing areas in need of development, attending to stakeholder concerns, and modifying the project plan as needed. The focus of continuous improvement is on analyzing and improving project management procedures and Feedback from customers, stakeholders, and end users is crucial for continuous improvement (Rashidy, 2023).
Through the use of these tactics, a project manager may effectively address the demands of all project stakeholders, resulting in improved project outcomes and stakeholder satisfaction.
An official document outlining a project's goals, scope, stakeholders, and other important details is called a project charter. A project charter serves as a framework for project planning and management, clarifies the project's objectives, and creates a common vision among stakeholders. Project managers may better communicate with participants and stakeholders by using the project charter to outline the project's goals, participants, and other pertinent information, such aspotential dangers (Gillis, 2023). A project charter is a brief document that lists the goals, participants, and boundaries of a project. It functions as a kind of contract between the project manager and the sponsor, providing a high-level summary of the goals and enabling the manager to allocate resources to meet the desired results.Throughout the project, the project charter acts as a reference document, directing decision-making and guaranteeing that all actions are in line with the project's goals. It offers a foundation for project governance and control, guarantees that stakeholders are informed and involved, and aids in preventing scope creep (What Is a Project Charter?
