I own a little motel near Crimson Lake, but my sales have been slow for the past couple of years. This year, I go on to a Kardashian fan meet up in Red Deer and tell a bunch of fans in attendance that Kim Kardashian will be staying at the motel for 4 days from December 20-24. This is not true at all, but I immediately sell out of rooms for those dates. As the rentals have nothing to do with anything I said verbally, I feel confident that there is no recourse any of the guests can take against me legally once they realize that Kim Kardashian won't be staying at the hotel. Joe, one such guest, arrives at the hotel with his wife, and is downright angry when I confess that Kim was never going to stay at the hotel, and that I just made that up to increase my motel business. Is there anything Joe can do? Does Joe have any recourse? Explain. (2 marks)
